Hoos Care is proud to support the UVA Children’s Hospital, UVA Cancer Center, and other Charlottesville area causes by raising awareness and funds.
To date, Cavaliers Against Cancer has raised over $100,000 for the Rebecca Clary Harris, M.D. Memorial Fellowship. Under the direction of Dr. Craig Slingluff, this fellowship supports ground-breaking work in cancer immunology and immunotherapy.
The inaugural Hoos Care Kids Fair was held at the John Paul Jones Arena on September 17th from 1-5PM. This family-friendly community engagement and awareness event was co-hosted by Hoos Care and the UVA Children’s Hospital Committee. Free to the public, it featured inflatable obstacle courses and slides, face painting, balloon animal artists, a scavenger hunt, and other traditional carnival activities. A main stage area highlighted various local entertainers including a magician, a juggler, dance routines, musical performances, martial arts, kids Zumba, and more. Finally, doctors from the UVA Children’s Hospital were on hand to display and discuss the ground-breaking research happening in our own backyard. The world-renowned work being done in here not only saves the lives of our children in Charlottesville and Virginia, but positively impacts life-saving treatments across the globe.
