The inaugural Hoos Care Kids Fair was held Sunday, September 17th at the John Paul Jones Arena. A community engagement and awareness event co-hosted by Hoos Care and the UVA Children’s Hospital Committee, it was a free fair that included inflatable obstacle courses and slides from SuperFun Attractions, Cav Man, face painting, balloon artists, the Virginia Discovery Museum StarLab, Charlottesville Symphony instrument petting zoo, a scavenger hunt, a photo booth (Photo Booth of Charlottesville) and other traditional carnival activities.
In addition to the carnival games and inflatables, there was a main stage area which highlights various local entertainers including the Virginia Dance Team, the Black Box Players, a magician (Michael D. & Scotty), a juggler (Jason LeJuggler), musical performances (Children’s Choir of Central Virginia / Charlottesville Symphony / Albemarle High School Jazz Band / The Virginia Sil’Hooettes / Charlottesville Catholic School Choir / Hoos in Treble / The Virginia Belles), and Zumba with the Go Girls! Fitness Support Group!
Also, top doctors from UVA Children’s Hospital were on hand to display and discuss the ground-breaking research and clinical treatments happening in our own backyard in the fields of Defeating Pediatric Cancer, Improving Gastrointestinal Health, Fighting Childhood Diseases One Cell at a Time, Asthma Research, Allergy, Asthma, & Clinical Immunology, Childhood Obesity & Healthy Habits, Neonatology, Gastroenterology, Pediatric Cardiology, Vaccines, Infectious Diseases, Neurology, Polycystic Ovary Syndrome, and more.
